In case of emergency, dial 911

Rushing to your aid With professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness as guiding principles, the Buncombe County Emergency Medical Services has strived to provide Asheville with the best paramedic care possible for over 20 years. Under the leadership of Director M. Jerry VeHaun, the Buncombe County 911 emergency dispatch handled over 150,000 calls last year alone; the vital role Emergency Medical Services provides to the Asheville community is quite clear.

While the sheer volume of emergency calls is staggering, they are gracefully handled by the dispatch's 13 full time and 11 part time employees who ensure that you receive emergency medical care as quickly as possible. Upon receiving word of your emergency, the BCEMS's trained EMTs and Paramedics stand ready all day, every day, to rush to your aid when your need is most dire.
