With Christmas less than two weeks away, join us for a free wine tasting featuring some premium West Coast Wines!  We'll pull the corks on some top-shelf, special-occasion wines, and you're invited!  And you're invited to stop back by tomorrow (2-5pm) for Part 2 of our West Coast Wine Weekend. Christmas comes but once per year, and if ever there were a holiday to splurge on wine(s), this is the one.  Whether you need lavish reds for gift-giving or standing rib-roast, we got you covered.  Need crisp whites for Feast of the Seven Fishes or the classic turkey/ham dinner?  We got you there too.  Trust me, we're here to help during this busy time of the year.  My staff, including myself, has over 40 years of combined wine experience.  We love talking about wine, we love talking about food, and we invite you to stop by the store for live, passionate, and informed consultation.  Cheers, Happy Holidays, and we'll see you soon. All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only! 1. 2016 Rickshaw Sauvignon Blanc (North Coast, California) - I seriously struggle with California Sauvignon Blanc.  They're often uneventful and dull, to put it politely.  But leave it to the fine folks at Banshee Wines to produce a great one at a great price.  Rickshaw is their "second label," and this is textbook Sauvignon Blanc.  Possessing some of the bright and exotic fruit typically encountered in New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc combined with some of the richer, more perfumed nuance of top-flight California Sauvignon Blanc (think Merry Edwards), this is a ton of wine for the money. Special Tasting Price: $13.59/bottle 2. 2016 Syncline Wine Cellars Subduction Red (Columbia Valley, Washington) - This was the surprise hit at our big, free Thanksgiving tasting about a month ago.  I understand why!  A blend of 52% Syrah, 21% Mourvedre, 11% Grenache, and smaller bits and pieces of other classic Rhone varietals, it is drop-dead gorgeous.  Beautifully balanced and integrated, it offers up rich, yet bright notes of spicy, brambly berries along with hints of smoked meat.  Talk about a perfect wine for lamb! Special Tasting Price: $18.39/bottle 3. 2011 Hill Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) - In addition to selling grapes to blue chips like Silver Oak, Pahlmeyer, Ramey, and Rombauer, this awesome family-run property makes some awesome wines.  Vintage 2011 was declared "not-too-great" by many of the top wine writers, but I invite them to stop by the store to taste this one and say anything bad about it.  It is scrumptious!  Full-bodied and packed with classic Napa Cab notes of cassis, blackberry, black cherry, mocha, and spicy, toasty French oak, it's the perfect red wine to sip by the fire or to serve with beef. Special Tasting Price: $35.99/bottle

All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only! 1. 2014 Varner Chardonnay "El Camino Vineyard" (Santa Barbara County, California) - Brothers Jim and Bob Varner craft some of California's top Chardonnays, and this is no-doubt their top value.  "Despite its very reasonable price, the 2014 Chardonnay El Camino Vineyard delivers serious intensity, richness and nuance. Broad, ample and phenolic, the 2014 exudes all the classic Varner signatures, structure being the most obvious of these. Yellow orchard fruit, mint, candied lemon, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes are front and center. This is one of the most singular Santa Barbara Chardonnays readers will come across." - Antonio Galloni - 92 points Special Tasting Price: $19.99/bottle 2. 2014 Banshee Pinot Noir (Sonoma County, California) - I had a bottle of this recently and was amazed at the quality for the price ratio.  Tasting like Pinots that often sell for $50+, this one is always good, but the 2014 is great.  Medium bodied, silky, complex and possessing gobs of ripe red fruits, exotic spices, and rooty, earthy nuances, it is a wonderful Pinot at a wonderful price. Special Tasting Price: $21.59/bottle 3. 2014 Vineyard 29 "Cru" Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) - This is a serious treat!  Made by the very talented Kirk Venge, this Cabernet hits all the sweet spots and more!  "The 2014 Cru has turned out every bit as strong as their 2013, which says something. Dense, opaque purple color, wonderfully sweet red and back fruits, an enticing fragrance, silky tannins and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, with no heaviness or rusticity, are the kind of characteristics that consumers love and will certainly enjoy in this wine that should age effortlessly for at least a decade or more." - Robert Parker - 93 points Special Tasting Price: $42.39/bottle

Christmas is just a few days away, and we're pleased to host another free wine tasting featuring some Classic Christmas Wines from our friends at Advintage Distributing. It's the weekend before Christmas and the good wines will be flowing at Table Wine!  Join us to sample half a dozen holiday-appropriate wines, from world-class bubbles to grand reds....and everything in between.  Sara Helmkamp and Anne Kaufmann, of Advintage Distributing, will be in the house pouring and discussing the wines.  It's the best free wine tasting in Asheville, and all you have to do is stop by, taste, learn, and save big on all of the featured tasting wines. 1. 2015 Raventos I Blanc De Nit Brut Sparkling Wine (Conca del Riu Anoia, Spain) - Raventos I Blanc is Spain's first-family of sparkling wine, and this is a great introduction to the house style.  A blend of biodynamically farmed Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Parellada, and Monastrell, it is pale-pink in color, but intense with powerful citrus, red berry, blood orange, and mineral notes. Special Tasting Price: $22.39/bottle 2. 2016 Stefano Massone Gavi "Masera" (Piemonte, Italy) - Stefano Massone specializes in Gavi, one of the most important white wines of Italy's Piemonte zone.  Based entirely on Italy's native Cortese grape, this light, yet highly aromatic and flavorful white wine is a natural fit for fish and fresh seafood. Special Tasting Price: $10.39/bottle 3. 2016 Huia Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) - From Huia's certified organic, practicing biodynamic estate vineyards, the wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French oak.  The oak component really adds a beautiful texture to the wine and it also contributes more aromatic and flavor diversity.  Guava, lime, gooseberry, green herbs, mineral, and on and on and on....... Special Tasting Price: $17.59 on mixed cases 4. 2015 Bench Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast, California) - Sourced primarily from Sonoma's famed Sangiacomo Amaral Vineyard, Bench's Pinot Noir offers up tons of complexity and nuance at a very fair price.  Medium-bodied, seamless, and displaying an abundance or ripe red fruits, exotic spices, cola, and earth, it's a great one for poultry, pork tenderloin, and salmon. Special Tasting Price: $20.79/bottle 5. 2016 Barbanera Ser Passo Toscana Rosso (Tuscany, Italy) - This rich and smooth Sangiovese-based red is just pure pleasure.  Loaded with ripe notes of cherry and plum, with hints of chocolate and vanilla, this is the perfect cocktail red. Special Tasting Price: $9.59/bottle 6. 2015 Bench Cabernet Sauvignon (Knights Valley, California) - Like their Pinot Noir, Bench's Cab is a ton of wine for the money.  From a rocking-good vintage and from a single-vineyard, it flows with aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, dusty earth, cedar, and oak spice.  Powerful enough to stand up to beef and lamb, it's also a great one to sip without food as it opens up very nicely with air and time. Special Tasting Price: $20.79/bottle

Special Tasting Price: $22.39/bottle 2. 2016 Neboa Albarino (Rias Baixas, Spain) - This wine comes from 75 year old, hillside vineyards planted on slate..........a similar situation to Mosel Riesling.  Flowing with floral infused peach, apricot, and citrus nuances, this is the best Albarino on the market for the money.  Perfect to serve with all variety of fish and seafood too. Special Tasting Price: $13.59/bottle 3. 2016 Philippe Girard Sancerre Cuvée Silex (Loire Valley, France) - Here's a stellar version of Sancerre, France's most prized Sauvignon Blanc based wine.  Grown in flinty soils along the shores of the Loire River, this one just rocks my world.  Intense notes of gooseberry, lemon curd, mineral and green herbs, you won't find a better Sancerre for the money. Special Tasting Price: $23.19/bottle 4. 2016 Domaine de Chantepierre Cotes du Rhone Rouge (Rhone Valley, France) - From a marvelous vintage in the Southern Rhone, this is one of my picks for the top red wine value of the year.......at Table Wine of course!  A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre fermented entirely in concrete tanks, it is soft, plush and decadent with ripe notes of kirsch, dark berries, pepper, and herb.  Great with lamb, great to sip on while you're watching a game or a Christmas movie. Special Tasting Price: $10.39/bottle 5. 2016 Brunelli Poggio Apricale (Tuscany, Italy) - If you're looking for Brunell0-like style for less than $20, Brunelli's Poggio Apricale is your new best friend.  From Brunelli's younger Sangiovese vines located in their vineyards in Montalcino and blended with 10% Merlot, it drinks like a top-flight Rosso di Montalcino, but costs a lot less. Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle 6. 2015 Valravn Old Vine Zinfandel (Sonoma County, California) - It's one our featured wines, and it's a screaming-good value in Old Vine Zinfandel.  Grapes come from old and ancient sites in the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, and the wine delivers crazy-good aromas and flavors of ripe and brambly berry fruit, spice, mocha and vanilla.  It's one of my new favorites and a wine I'll be sipping often this fall and winter. Special Tasting Price: $19.99/bottle 7. 2015 Bodegas Atamisque Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) - This was the best Malbec I tasted in 2017 and for good reason!  It is made with grapes from 80-year-old vines, some of the oldest in the region.  Boasting heady and hedonistic notes of cassis, baked plum, blueberry, violet, and toasty oak, it's full-bodied and powerful, yet seamless and opulent. Special Tasting Price: $29.99/bottle

How much does the trolley ride cost? It's FREE. But please, tip your driver! 5. CAN I ride the trolley one way? Sure, still register for your spot just the same.
