Description:
Are you looking for a quick crash course to help you find mental strategies or breathing strategies to cope with labor?  Does your partner need some guidance on how to support you during your birth?  Do you have some fears or anxieties about the big day and how you are going to get through it?  Comfort measures are not just for an unmedicated vaginal birth, but are useful and often most needed when labor does not go the way we planned. Join us for this 1 1/2 hour class to give mom's tools to feel safe and strong during her labor and help her relax down into the sensations she will feel rather than fight them.  Partners will leave this class knowing when to talk, what to say (understanding your mama's love lanugage), how to support, how to touch and bring pain relief both during and between contractions.  This is a Homegrown Babies community offering that is offered at no charge!

Tales of near death or death on the path to parenthood are not as rare as we are told. Join us as we highlight the maternal morbidity crisis through an intimate evening of storytelling. Bringing together birthing person’s, doulas, midwives and care providers to share their stories in the hopes that as a community we can acknowledge that moms and babies suffer from the overuse and misuse of medical technologies and interventions and a lack of investment in their wellbeing. All proceeds after expenses will go to “March for Moms”. “March for Moms” is a non-profit that gathers a coalition of voices to advocate for the health and well-being of mothers and babies before, during and after childbirth. We have witnessed... Poor access to healthcare, discrimination, lack of information about family planning options, and healthcare provider shortage, among others. Maternal death for American Indian/Alaskan Native and non-Hispanic Black women is 3 to 4 times more likely to happen compared to White women. Over 50% of maternal deaths are considered preventable. The rate of American moms who die in childbirth that has been rising for 20 years, worse than any other developed nation A surge in the rate of babies born dangerously early, unmatched in the past eight years= A drop in availability of qualified midwives, obstetricians, and family medicine physicians to deliver babies across the country An epidemic of stress and depression among parents due to the worse parental leave policies in the developed world Large groups of people, who seem more likely to suffer serious complications of birth, simply because of the color of their skin Do you know someone or did you yourself have a near-death experience giving birth or in the immediate postpartum? Were you told that your experience was extremely rare and almost never happens? Did you know that it is not as rare as you think? We would love to give you an opportunity to share your story in a safe and supportive environment. Homegrown wants to give you the opportunity to be seen, to be heard to be held and to be loved through your process while simultaneously increasing awareness of our maternity morbidity crisis in the United States  You matter and your story matters! Contact Chama Woydak at 828-777-8899 or [email protected] for more details on how to share your story.

Free.  Are you interested in Systemic Constellations but not ready for a full day workshop? This Constellations Taster Evening is for you! Dip your toe into the Knowing Field. It's a fun, eye-opening evening!  Systemic Constellation is an effective method for working with trans-generational issues and repeating patterns that show up in the family by increasing the flows of Love in your family system, easing the blockages to the flows of Love. A Family Constellation Workshop is a beautiful and gentle way to bring the real issues in your family system to light and to encourage them to transform. Systemic Family Constellations began in Germany in the early 1980s, and are the life work of Bert Hellinger, psychotherapist. Systemic Family Constellation is a popular, known therapy worldwide and is now gaining traction in the US.  What is Family Constellation and how does it work?  During a Systemic Family Constellation workshop, we gather as a sacred circle of individuals in service to our families and to each others' families. If you have an issue you want to look at in your family system, I will ask you some basic questions about your family system: Who was excluded? Did anyone die at a young age? Was anyone forgotten? When I have a sense of where the issue might be centered, I ask you to chose people from the group to represent your family members, issues, events, or even places which might have a bearing on the issue. I will ask you to place each representative in the working space in the manner in which it feels 'right' to you.  When a representative is placed, they are connected to the Knowing Field of your family system. They begin to relate to one another in very specific visual and spatial ways. From these relationships, we can see what cannot normally be seen about the inner workings of the system, and we can see where blockages occur. By nudging the system and by encouraging representatives to use Healing Statements of simple truth about what is, we strengthen the system and increase the flows of love within it. Systemic Constellation is one of the only methods for examining and modifying trans-generational patterns within the family system. To have a successful constellation you don't need to bring any other members of your family with you! We can do deep work in constellations because you bring the complete Knowing Field of your family system with you. We work with the system itself when we do a constellation. You can bring any issue to the workshop to be constellated. In the past, clients have looked at issues such as these: Repeating Patterns Across The Generations Addiction Estrangement Loss of Fortune Repercussions of Immigration Physical Pain which defies treatment Eating Disorders and many more Constellation work looks into the systemic aspects of the issue, that is, the parts of the issue which lie in the system itself, rather than in individuals.

This class bundle includes the one-time, three-hour Childbirth Refresher Class and the one time Welcome Baby Sibling Class. The Childbirth Refresher Class is for women who have given birth previously.  We will cover what to pack, signs of labor, coping techniques, hands-on comfort measures, labor positons, birth preferences and informed consent, and ideas for sibling integration and postpartum planning. Many families need support for siblings with a new baby. The Sibling Class is designed for you to learn about integrating the new baby to the mix, together with your children. Come to class with your older children and learn ways to welcome the new baby, how siblings can help with the day-to-day tasks a newborn requires, transitioning to a family of four or more, and how to prepare children for the birth of their new brother or sister.  The class will focus on what to expect, the changing family dynamics, challenges with older children such as toilet training and sleep.   Select a Sibling Class to attend - you may attend the sibling class whenever it fits your schedule, prior to, after, or in the same month you attend your Refresher class. The children will paint a onesie for the new baby and create a big brother/sister tee shirt for themselves. They will also receive "I'm the Big Brother/Sister" certificate upon completing the class  This class is appropriate for kids 2 and older.   For this bundle you will pick the date of your refresher class and during checkout you will pick the Saturday for your Sibling Class. You can choose to attend the Sibling Class during the same month as your Refresher class, prior to or after your Refresher class - whatever fits your schedule. And now for the fine print...Because our classes often sell out, we do not offer refunds or transfers for non-medical reasons, so please be sure you can attend the class you register for! If you choose to register for class that will begin after 37 weeks, there are no refunds if your baby arrives beforehand.

Welcoming another new addition to your family?  Is your older child excited about becoming a big sibling but not sure what their new title really means? Register now for this awesome Sibling Class. The Sibling Class is designed for children ages 2 and older. Each class we sit together and learn the basics about newborns - what they are wearing when they are born, how babies communicate, and what babies need (diapers, clothes, blankets, love). We talk about the process of labor and birth in G-rated fashion - where moms and dads go to have a baby or what it will be like to have a baby at home, how the baby gets out of mom, what are those funny sounds mom is making, and that mom is OK. Children are encouraged to bring a baby doll or baby-sized stuffed animal to class so they can diaper, clothe, swaddle, and hold the baby. They will learn the important ways they can help when the new baby comes home and learn how to "play" with thier little sibling and show the baby love. Each class includes time to read a book, watch a birth story, and do a craft and ebbs and flows to hold the attention of the various ages in the group. Although this class is primarliy focused on the children, parents will learn tips about integrating the new baby to the mix, including ways to welcome the new baby, how siblings can help with the day-to-day tasks a newborn requires, transitioning to a family of four or more, and how to prepare children for the birth of their new brother or sister.  The class will also have resources on what to expect, the changing family dynamics, challenges with older children such as toilet training and sleep.   The children will create a onesie for the new baby and create a big brother/sister tee shirt for themselves. They will also receive "I'm the Big Brother/Sister" certificate upon completing the class  YOU MAY ALSO LIKE: Childbirth Refresher Class We also offer class bundles:  Childbirth Refresher Class + Welcome Little Baby Sibling Class
