Please register at http://www.rei.com/event/10329/session/12801. The Western North Carolina Alliance will present a talk and pictures about canoe camping from their recent 11 day, 122 mile paddle trip down the French Broad River. Canoe camping is one of the most enjoyable ways to get out and enjoy the outdoors and the French Broad River is an excellent place to start. The purpose of this latest paddle trip was to monitor and raise awareness about the water quality of the French Broad River, while also giving people an opportunity to explore it as seldom have. The Western North Carolina Alliance is working to create a paddle trail along the river to make multi day trips down the French Broad River a much more realistic option. The talk will also feature advice and gear suggestions to make your paddle trip much more enjoyable. Prizes will be given out at the presentation.

Contra dancing is a great way to get to get to know people. To look into their eyes. To touch their body. To feel their energy. To smile and have fun. All these things are important for any relationship to get started. Warren Wilson college has contra every Thursday but how many of them are veggies? Who knows! I propose we all "stick together" in an area or even wear name tags so that we can know who's part of the group. If you have never contra danced before don't worry! At 7:30 they give instructions/lessons on just how to do it so come on and have fun!

YOUR BRAIN NEEDS THIS: Higher consciousness and peak mental performance depend on coherent, orderly brain function. Scientific research studies have shown that the Transcendental Meditation technique creates widespread brain wave coherencefor growth of bliss, creativity and intelligence in daily life. Concentration practices typically show gamma waves, indicative of controlled focus. During the TM technique, neuroscientists find alpha waves (associated with relaxed "inner wakefulness"), but not just in localized areasthe alpha waves are typically "in phase," rising up and down together at the same frequencies in the frontal areas (prefrontal cortex), in both left and right hem
