Weekly Drop-In Practice Community download flyer Insight Meditation (known as vipassana in the Buddhist tradition) is a simple technique which has been practiced in Asia for over 2,500 years. Beginning with the focusing of attention on the breath, the practice concentrates and calms the mind. It allows one to see through the minds conditioning and thereby to live more fully present in the moment. The ultimate aim of the practice is to discover a freedom & happiness that is not dependent on the ever-changing conditions of our lives. People of all experience levels are welcome to join this drop-in meditation group. Meditation instruction will be given to all of those who are new to the practice. Our time together will include a silent meditation period, as well as teaching and group exploration. Parking: On street across from the Womens Wellness Center and a parking lot with 8 spaces behind the center.

We are heading up to Mount Pisgah Campground in North Carolina for the weekend of September 10-12th. While there we are going to be exploring various trails in the area. We have not decided what trails we will be doing yet. Closer to the date we will have the trails posted we will be hiking with further descriptions. We plan on hiking Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Since we have never hiked in this area before we are not familiar with the trails so we may miss a turn, have to back track, a 10 mile hike may turn into 14 miles. You need to be willing for the unexpected to happen and have an adventurous spirit. We decided against a group campsite and for everyone to make their own reservations. Our campsite is Loop D 21. There are still quite a few campsites available that are close to D21. 6 people are allowed in a campsite with 1 vehicle (there is a $5 fee if there is another vehicle). Anyone is free to buddy up with another person at a campsite and share the cost but this is something you will need to arrange a
