Downtown After 5   [Fairs & Festivals]

The 26th Season of Downtown After 5, kicks off Friday, May 16 from 5-9pm taking place the 3rd Friday of the month from May through September, Downtown After 5 is located at N. Lexington Avenue and I-240 and is always free. To purchase alcohol attendees will need to show a valid picture ID and buy a $2 wristband. Proceeds from wristband sales will support a nonprofit organization. From sandwiches to pizza and ice cream to tacos, food vendors offer a something for everyone’s taste. Downtown After 5 is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and features a solar-powered stage, complimentary bike corral, compostable food and beverage containers, and staffed recycling and compost bins. Since implementing its greening initiative, the event has reduced the number of bags headed to the landfill to just a handful. Downtown After 5 is a production of the Asheville Downtown Association, a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation and improvement of the central business district.

3 Day On-Camera Intensive w/Kelly McGillis   [Community]

Description:
3-Day Film Acting Intensive w/Kelly McGillis Apply your acting skills in a professional film set environment with Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated actress Kelly McGillis and Bill Pivetta, master instructor and owner of First Avenue Films. Friday 5/16: (6:00pm - 10:00pm) Actors need to come prepared and off-book with pre-provided scripts. Ms. McGillis will lay the structure and necessary information for the intensive and then actors will be given studio time to rehearse. Each actor will have two scenes with the same person from separate parts of the same script. Saturday 5/17: (10:00am - 6:00pm) Actors will work with make-up, wardrobe, lighting, sound, props, DP, PAs and Red Camera with track and dolly systems. The entire day will be spent filming scenes. Sunday 5/18: (10:30am - 6:00pm) We will meet at a local movie theater and put the raw footage up on the big screen, and students will receive feeedback. After Lunch, we will head back to the studio and work the given feedback. Cost $500 Max 1
