SART Presents: Pump Boys and Dinettes   [Theater]

Event Date: 08/02/2015 (Today)  Event Time: 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Description:
A Musical Presented by SART at Owen High School The ‘Pump Boys’ sell high octane on Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country and the ‘Dinettes’, Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, run the Double Cupp diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country western songs that received unanimous raves on and off-Broadway. With heartbreak and hilarity, they perform on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils. “Both musically and theatrically, a triumph of ensemble playing. It doesn’t merely celebrate the value of friendship and life’s simple pleasures, it embodies them.” — The New York Times “Totally terrific...It is such fun.” — The New York Post “A gasser, with buoyant, earthy humor.” — New York Daily News “Totally delightful.” — Newsweek “When the inevitable “closing time’ comes along, you’ll wish you could stay a while longer.” — Christian Science Monitor

When People Whine, a Prophet Prays, and God Speaks   [Spiritual & Religious]

Event Date: 08/07/2015  Event Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Description:
After God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, He called them to be uniquely His and set apart from other nations. Still His chosen people demanded an earthly king of their own so they could be like all the other kingdoms. In response, God gave them exactly what they were looking for: King Saul—a tall, handsome young man to rule Israel. The Israelites missed the initial signs of Saul’s inability to lead because he had early military success. Eventually, Israel reaped the hardship sowed by their foolishness. We all like to think we truly believe in God’s provision and protection. But what happens when we are dangling off a proverbial cliff and God tells us to let go and trust Him to catch us?
