Happy Birthday, Thomas Wolfe!

Thomas Wolfe was born on this day (October 3^rd) in 1900. He was most famous for his book "Look Homeward Angel", the novel influencing an entire generation of writers; including the father of the beat movement, Jack Kerouac.

Asheville native Thomas Wolfe is considered by many to be one of the most influential novelists of the 20th century. He penned four novels as well as many short stories, poems and other works.

Downtown Asheville's Thomas Wolfe Memorial starts its 2007 festival today, October 3 and the festival runs through October 7th. For more information and a schedule of events, go the Thomas Wolfe Memorial web-site.
