Court Gives OK to Annexation

Asheville got the green light from the North Carolina Court of Appeals to annex several contested areas of Buncombe County. The areas include Ridge Field Business Park and a zone off of Airport Road.
Several property owners that were disputing the annexation are still able to appeal the decision to North Carolina's Supreme Court -- though the court has recently declined to hear an annexation case along similar grounds.
The citizens trying to stop annexation are claiming that Asheville's ability to provide services such as water, police and fire protection are inadequate.
