ASHEVILLE, NC – The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa is bringing some of the top chefs in the southeast to Asheville for a special series of visiting chef wine dinners. The series of special dinners kicks off at 6 p.m. on Thursday June 10. Award winning chefs Sean Brock from McCrady’s in Charleston and Jacques Larson of Wild Olive in Charleston are joining with Horizons Dining Room Chef du Cuisine Duane Fernandes to create a special menu for the inaugural dinner. The dinner will feature six courses of culinary delights, paired with fine wines and other beverages. The cost is $90 per person.
“We are very excited about bringing these chefs to the Grove Park Inn,” said Denny Tratham, Executive Chef for the resort. “Chefs Brock and Larson are shining stars in the culinary world. Along with our own star, Chef Fernandes, I am certain they will prepare a meal that will be a rare treat.”
Chef Brock has a long list of accomplishments and accolades to his credit, including two dinners for the James Beard Foundation, two features on the Food Network, numerous glowing reviews and local awards, and apprenticeships with acclaimed chefs.
Chef Larson is a previous Executive Chef at Mercato in Charleston, which was awarded best new restaurant by the Charleston City Paper in 2007. He bridges his classical French training with his later years of Italian devotion. Chef Larson is committed to local products and producers.
Chef Fernandes attended Johnson and Wales University, followed by The Culinary Institute of Charleston where he graduated with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. While in Charleston, Fernandes worked at several notable restaurants, including the highly acclaimed Peninsula Grill, Lemaire in Richmond, Virginia and the Michelin three-star restaurant Per Se (rated the seventh best restaurant in the world).
