Choose 'N' Cut Christmas Trees at Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm in Waynesville/Maggie Valley

Santa’s sleigh is in the shop getting a last minute oil change and the reindeer are hard hittin’ the treadmill.  Christmas is nigh upon us and if you haven’t already selected that special tree to celebrate the occasion, there is still time.  And, you can have lots of fun doing it!  In the spirit of the season, treat your family with a visit to Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm and experience the wonderful tradition of selecting your own beautiful Fraser Fir Christmas tree.  As you stroll through acres of manicured fields and tree specimens, you are certain to eye that perfect tree and create a memorable adventure in the process.  Once you’ve carefully selected “the” perfect tree, the staff at Boyd Farm will cut it, bale it and tie it on your vehicle.  Or, if you like having more of a hands-on experience, you can use the available bow saw and cut the tree yourself!  The farm offers cut trees from 5' to 20', and also balled and burlapped dug Fraser Fir trees, table top trees, wreaths of all sizes, garland, roping and the famous Answer Stand tree stand.

The Boyd Farm on Jonathan Creek in Haywood County, NC has been in the Boyd family continuously for over 100 years.  The 130 acre working farm serves as a Christmas tree farm and also has seven authentic, hand hewed log cabins dating back 150 to 200 years, which are available for rental at Boyd Mountain Log Cabins.  Over the years, the cabins were selected and moved to the property and strategically placed to take advantage of the privacy and beautiful views of the Smokey Mountains, fishing ponds and tree farm.  The cabins have been carefully restored and tastefully furnished with antiques and are fully equipped with modern conveniences.  There are 1,2,3 & 4 bedrooms available and they are open year-round.

The first Fraser Fir tree was planted on the farm in 1984 and other seedlings have been planted every year since.  After years of careful tending and nurturing, the Choose ‘N’ Cut Christmas Trees were offered for sale in 1999 when there were a variety of tree sizes available for customers to choose from.  Some of the larger trees are now 25 years old!  Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm was featured in the September 2010 issue of Southern Living Magazine "Best Farm Stays in NC".  It is a wonderfully scenic, well-kept property and the helpful, friendly staff make your visit a delightful experience.

Directions:  From Asheville, NC:  Take exit 20 off I-40 (Waynesville/Maggie Valley, Hwy 276).  Go 3.5 miles on Hwy 276 South.  Turn right onto Hemphill Rd past Wingray Campground.  Cross bridge and immediately turn left onto Boyd Farm Rd.  Just follow the trees.

Hours:  The farm is open daily from 9am to 6pm until Wednesday, December 23rd.  There are complimentary refreshments in the heated tent and restrooms are available.

Parking: There is easy paved access to the farm, lots of convenient parking, handicapped facilities and parking and transportation is provided to the tree field if needed.
