February 9: French Broad Coop Valentine’s Treats: 2-6 pm.  Taste and learn to make treats for your sweet!  90 Biltmore Ave.  (828) 255-7650.

 

February 11: Asheville Symphony Beethovens “Pastoral” Symphony: 8 pm at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.  The Asheville Art Museum is supplying images of our own natural surroundings to accompany the music. 

 

February 14: Valentine’s Day Massacre Party: Rankin Vault and Cocktail Lounge Downtown Asheville. The party is loosely themed on the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929 Chicago, a prohibition-era conflict between two powerful gangs including Al Capone. 1920′s era clothing and mobster attire is strongly recommended. The party gets started at 8pm and goes late into the night with DJ Lorruh spinning period music with a contemporary twist.

 

February 17-19: Bluegrass First Class Weekend: The 17th Annual Bluegrass First Class Festival has some of the best bluegrass acts in the country rocking out all over the hotel, all weekend.

 

February 22: Dark Star Orchestra: At Asheville's Orange Peel.  Grateful Dead Tribute Band comes to Asheville.  $22 advance tickets, $24 door.  9 pm.

 

February 25: Annual Art Auction: At The Venue Downtown Asheville.  7 pm.  Artwork, paintings, sculpture, mixed media donated by over 40 artists. All proceeds from auction help support Open Doors, a non-profit organization helping at risk children.  Tickets are $75 per person.  Food, Entertainment, auction. 

 

February 28: Animal Compassion Networks Dine to be Kind, Helping Area Animals in Need: Come out and enjoy delicious food for a great cause at over 50 local restaurants.  A portion of the proceeds from the day’s dining will help support Animal Compassion Network’s Spay/Neuter Assistance and other life saving programs. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or takeout.
