Description:
Why take a Homegrown Babies 3 day long Birth Doula training?   Our Doulas feel confident and prepared to begin doulaing immediately by the completion of the course. The Doula skills you will learn are adaptable to many settings, birth experiences, and outcomes. Expect the unexpected! Chama is dedicated to providing the highest level of adult education and is able to provide an individual experience at your training.  Whole brain learning! The course is designed using modern teaching methods that involve and engage the learner. You don’t just sit and take notes. Instead, you’ll be moving around the room, doing small group activities, and having fun. People learn best in social environments when they feel a sense of purpose and can show mastery over the new skills they’ve learned. The printed manual is 270 plus pages of useful handouts and reference materials, with an additional 30 pages of Homegrown handouts. You’ll meet people who are different from you who also want to learn doula skills! Doulas are needed in every community. Only by working together can we help to spread the word that people’s emotional needs in labor are important. All parents birthing babies are respected and so are the wide range of choices people make. But that may not be easy to implement in real life! So we learn how to do that together in a safe way, and figure out our own personal limits. (No one is the best doula for everyone! Not even me!) Evidence-based skills! You learn what works and why, from someone who reads new scientific literature on a monthly basis. Three days! Studies of behavioral change from Stanford University show that it takes three days to create lasting change, cement new skills, and transform attitudes. Doulaing can be a profession, a lifestyle, and an approach to life that incorporates acceptance and compassion. That one extra day is what cements learning and brings about high confidence levels. Current issues! We discuss obstetrical trends and social justice issues in a safe and respectful way for all attendees. You’ll leave knowing more about what to expect in social media, and how to use your energy to transform birth in your community for all kinds of laboring families The training dates and locations are as followed: Asheville NC October 18,19,20 Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 beginning at 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sunday, October 20 from 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Continental Breakfast is included. You may apply your registration to another Homegrown Babies workshop within the year. Students registered for the course will not receive refunds for any missed sections of the course and certificates cannot be issued for partial attendance. Homegrown Babies Birth Doula Workshop is designed to train participants to become professional labor support providers and is one of the steps in the certification process for Doulas of North America International (DONA).

Description:
The mental and emotional issues, addictions and “knots” that have become part of your life originated in those significant experiences that were part of your past. Many of those experiences have been relegated to your subconscious, to the days and years of forgotten memories. But alive they are. But what you have not dealt with or overcome in the past has the nagging habit of returning again and again, each time with a slightly different appearance, but basically always identical, until you confront the old knot and untie it. The intention of this workshop is to significantly increase your consciousness about your “knot”  and how to begin walking a conscious path to truth, peace, and fulfilling the innate image of who you really are. You typically think of your shortcomings and “knots” as things of which you have to rid yourself if you ever hope to be happy. In other words, your happiness and well-being must be located and found somewhere else. But as it turns out, this is not the case. Your “knot” itself is truly a doorway into your joy and fulfillment. Having learned to create a unified perception of yourself, you will create a unified perception of the whole world. As a result, you will experience that your joy, your meaning for living and your fulfillment was never lost at all. OBJECTIVES Transform your perception of your “knot” and who you are. Use the “knot” as one of the greatest tools you have to wake up. Create an enlightened profile of your “knot” as a map to move forward. FAQs What should I expect? Following a beginning foundation of the subject matter, all of our programming and instructional processes are highly experiential and are based upon the dynamics and needs of the groups. You will not find canned-ham programming in any of our workshops. Our materials are of the highest quality, unique and are relevant and applicable to your everyday life. The last day of the program usually ends a little earlier. How should I dress? As relaxed as you prefer. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from Asheville? There is ample parking on our campus. You can also use the large parking lot across the street behind the church should overflow occur. We recommend Walter Marvel and Marvel Transportation (828-280-1698) for all of your transportation needs. Walter is a first-class gentleman who provides a first-class service. Who are the instructors? Your instructors for the program are Haydn Hasty, MA, EdS, PhD, President, Terry Hasty, MS, Vic-President and Robert Wilkinson, Cosmologist and Astrologer. What restaurants / hotels do you recommend? We recommend Bouchon (downtown) Vivian (west Asheville) and Cucina 24 (downtown), all of which are less than 10 minutes from our office. The new Bouchon, Rendez-Vous, located about a mile from WellSpring, is expected to,open May, 2019. We recommend the following hotels which are located within 5 minutes from our campus: Country Inn and Suites / 199 Tunnel Road / 828-254-4311                                                             Hampton Inn / 204 Tunnel Road / 828-255-9220                                                                             Courtyard by Marriott / 204 Tunnel Road / 828-281-0041                                                               Homewood Suites / 88 Tunnel Road / 828-252-5400 How can I contact the organizer with any questions? This two day training is the next step for current Thai practitioners, who are looking for new techniques and advanced approaches to add into their sessions. This course came out of a request from a student who has been practicing for a few years and is now ready for more. There are so many nuances and additional techniques that can be added into the flow that were just not possible to include in the original training. There will be a strong focus on 'Hand's Free Techniques' including the use of feet, knees and forearms. There will be an entire sequence given for 'walking on the body' as well as sequences for releasing the rotator cuff and for back bends. We will focus on each body position (Supine, Side Lying, Prone, and Seated) and add in additional options for all of these. Some techniques will be brand new and some will simply be additions to the techniques you should already be familiar with. There will also be some discussion around people's experience with the work so far and discussing any questions or issues that have arisen. This class will be limited to 20 people and only for Thai practitioners only, no beginners. This course is approved by NCBTMB for 12 hours of CE credits. Hope to see you there! Welcoming another new addition to your family?  Is your older child excited about becoming a big sibling but not sure what their new title really means? Register now for this awesome Sibling Class. The Sibling Class is designed for children ages 2 and older. Each class we sit together and learn the basics about newborns - what they are wearing when they are born, how babies communicate, and what babies need (diapers, clothes, blankets, love). We talk about the process of labor and birth in G-rated fashion - where moms and dads go to have a baby or what it will be like to have a baby at home, how the baby gets out of mom, what are those funny sounds mom is making, and that mom is OK. Children are encouraged to bring a baby doll or baby-sized stuffed animal to class so they can diaper, clothe, swaddle, and hold the baby. They will learn the important ways they can help when the new baby comes home and learn how to "play" with thier little sibling and show the baby love. Each class includes time to read a book, watch a birth story, and do a craft and ebbs and flows to hold the attention of the various ages in the group. Although this class is primarliy focused on the children, parents will learn tips about integrating the new baby to the mix, including ways to welcome the new baby, how siblings can help with the day-to-day tasks a newborn requires, transitioning to a family of four or more, and how to prepare children for the birth of their new brother or sister.  The class will also have resources on what to expect, the changing family dynamics, challenges with older children such as toilet training and sleep.   The children will create a onesie for the new baby and create a big brother/sister tee shirt for themselves. They will also receive "I'm the Big Brother/Sister" certificate upon completing the class  YOU MAY ALSO LIKE: Childbirth Refresher Class We also offer class bundles:  Childbirth Refresher Class + Welcome Little Baby Sibling Class
