ASHEVILLE, NC – The Asheville Art Museum’s ARTmob invites you to Art and Chocolate with Artist Andy Farkas and French Broad Chocolate Lounge owners Jael and Dan Rattigan at 2nd floor of French Broad Chocolate Lounge on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. This event is $5 at the door — the cost includes a glass of wine and a free pass to the Asheville Art Museum. Join us for a talk by Andy Farkas on his process and inspiration, and a demonstration of his work. There will be time for individuals to meet and greet the artist, and find out more about his classes and newly offered print subscription. A full display of Andy’s framed prints will be on the walls.
Then enjoy a chocolate demonstration project by Andy and FBCL owners and chocolatiers Dan and Jael Rattigan. They will do a chocolate screen print project, resulting in an edible piece of chocolate art to be enjoyed by attendees! Andy Farkas is a nationally and internationally recognized print and book artist who has been developing his craft for over 12 years. He resides in Asheville with his wife, daughter, two dogs and three cats. Andy creates woodcut and wood engraving prints as well as artist books. He writes, prints and binds all his own work. Dan and Jael Rattigan, French Broad Chocolate Lounge owners, met in Minnesota, where they acquired a 40-foot school bus, turned it into a living space, converted it to run on used vegetable oil, and drove to Costa Rica. There, they opened Bread & Chocolate, a cafe and dessert shop in the Caribbean coast town of Puerto Viejo. They moved to Asheville in 2006, and opened the Chocolate Lounge in 2007.
